I suggest doing the Debian way and backport security fixes. That gives
both stability and security.

Firefox 5 shouldn't be a security
I don't see a problem with releasing the latest Firefox as a separate
package so that I can choose to have the latest. What I like to have is
a web-browser that my plugins work today the same way they worked
yesterday, that's the reason for to run the supplied version in the
first place.

The specific plugin I had problem with was firebug, but that's besides the
point.
The job you are describing is the exact same job that I expect a distribution
to do, and that have been done so far by the Ubuntu team. I can't really see
why this should be a problem now.

I have the same problem (Ubuntu 10.10). It seems that blkid don't recognize
NILFS, blkid /dev/system/home gives nothing whereas blkid on any other disk
gives the right info:
blkid /dev/system/root
/dev/system/root: UUID=ee0cef39-34a0-45ae-954c-95ada3377495
This can be closed, or at least put in another state since 6.2u4 is in
Lucid. Even though I asked for 6.2u5 I'm happy with 6.2u4 for now.

Also, when machines come and go it works pretty bad to, even on a small
network. I have network with 3 machines and if I try to tab-complete ssh when
my wife just have turned of here computer I get a ugly error message.
Could you please remove this feature or at least make it configurable?

This time it was a Karmic installation.
Since this looks like a trivial patch with few or no other side effects,
could you pleas consider turn on Browsing in next release?

I got the exact same problem, could boot on one of my old kernels but not the
newly installed.
I did an update to Karmic from Jaunty with aptitude and changed the
/etc/apt/sources.list to use Karmic insted.
Can I solve this by hand? I really like to try the 2.6.31 kernel from
Karmic Koala.
