I can confirm. My university's wireless is horrible sometimes, and this is the
observed behavior.
At first, I thought it was because I was using a softmac wireless card, but a
quick look at top shows Xorg being the one hogging cycles. This problem is even
worse when using a compositor.

Yes, problem still occurs in Intrepid final.
However, I do not know if it occurs in the latest git/2.6.28-rc kernels, as I
believe they use an updated wireless stack that support later firmwares. That
being the case, I also don't know if later firmwares still exhibit the same
problem.

The dock ones might not be noticeable, but the ClearWeather screenlet ones are
very clear. Compare to SmoothWeather, right next to it, which doesn't have the

I was starting to think the kernel was doing some kind of check to see if the
key being read was the actual key being triggered, but I couldn't figure out
how the kernel would know since all events go through the device file one way
or another.

doesn't appear changed, either. No errors from writing to the device
file. Moreover, standard keys still work through acpi_fakekey, so for
some reason or another, the kernel is deciding that extraneous keys are
ignored (what

my case, the IBM button is e017 on a T40p) the key magically works.
However, it seems that it's dependent on each other. The key isn't recognized
until both the kernel has it defined, and the key is triggered through

The problem would have been caused by the kernel somehow changing the order of
the devices, and one of them is being incorrectly detected as a keyboard.

regex matching is used for just about every compiz plugin. it's the only way to
specify particular animations for particular windows, and for specifying which
applications you'd like to appear on the widget layer.

IS loaded, because all hotkeys work. They don't work if the module isn't
