I've been looking into this for the last couple of days.
With the new gpg versions the gpg command refers operations needing
private keys to gpg-agent, a separate process it starts when needed.
When gpg-agent needs to ask the user for a key's passphrase it starts up
a third independent process
By the way--this is only a problem the first time a need a passphrase,
for some reason. After that gpg-agent seems to remember the passphrase
and I assume that the prompt is unnecessary.
To reproduce after that one would need to kill gpg-agent.

I have this problem testing Cosmic as well. In fact it is a problem both
when using a virtual tty (alt-cntl-F2 for example), and when using ssh.
The problem appears to me to be that pinentry, the program to collect
the passphrase for one's private key, is not working as it was.

isn't started from the /etc/init.d/gogoc script.
The only problem stopping gogoc from starting for me from the script was

Debdiff with the patch from webkit upstream Filip Pizlo. See the webkit
bug above. Before the patch was applied I could often trigger the
segfault. After applying it to my system the problem I was no longer
able to trigger the fault.

This could be the flash bug: lp: #995695 if the url being opened has
adobe flash and if the processor doesn't have the SSE2 instructions.

This sounds like bugs that have occurred in at least two previous Ubuntu
releases. In each case the X session was starting on the wrong console
(not greater than VT6) and was being interfered with by a getty process
on the same console. In each case it was very much timing related.
In the
I suggest that you attach the last several Xorg.n.log's from /var/log in
order to look for why the X server would have crashed.
