Also added a User Preference (Behavior-Markers) to turn off the marker
coloring.
Could add some more options there if needed such as :

style dialog.
Please let me know if you have any comments about the way fill and stroke is

Yes i tend to agree it shouldn't really be up to Inkscape to fix this problem.
But given this is the default appearance in Ubuntu since 11.04 many users will
be affected.
Its mostly a simple one line fix to ensure the window has a minimum height,
which is generally useful on all platforms.

My Sierra 308 Mobile broadband used to connect to Ubuntu 10.10 without
any problems, then one day it suddenly stopped working. The device
connects fine in Windows so it is not a hardware problem. I have tried
reinstalling Ubuntu, and both downgraded and upgrading the packages
I have experienced this wicked behaviour when setting up firewall
rules on a machine connecting to the Internet through a DSL modem. I
believe that I have found a fix but I'm not completely certain.

Clean install of Ubuntu 10.10
FreeNX installed per instructions

The brightness up/down buttons have no effect.
The gnome brightness applet also fails to change the brightness (Power Manager
Brightness Applet 2.30.0).

As a work around for the problem I edited /var/lib/dpkg/status and
removed the entire block referencing flashplugin-nonfree. Once I did
that I was able to update the system with the update manager and I was
able to run synaptic and use the flashplugin-installer to install the
flashplugin-nonfree.
