binary (fglrx) or open source AMD/ATI drivers.
Sometimes suspend works after a hybernate, but most times resume won't wake up
the machine, stays on blank screen.

shoo_ash is probably right, as the workaround suggested on comment #5 in

restarting kded4. No more 100% cpu usage when disconnecting from the
broadband or vpn.

I have a similar modem (a E1692) which identifies exactly the same to
lsusb. The only way I could get it to work was to disable support for
modem-modeswitch (edited /lib/udev/rules.d/61-option-modem-
modeswitch.rules and commented the line with 1446 in it), adding a
slightly edited set of rules
Correction - I got it to work with the usb-modeswitch package. Here are
the udev rules - /etc/udev/rules.d/10-hsdpa.rules. I forgot I had
installed the huawey software only to control the sms and to obtain
statistics.

Several Huawei USB dongle don't work with kernel 2.6.31-12.40 (2.6.31.1 update
@Michael: your quirks suggestion is not enough (unfortunately) for my
E1692 (which has the same productid as your E1762 - 0x1446). modem-
modeswitc doesn't seem able to switch it into proper mode, the
porductID stays at 0x1446 instead of changing to 0x140C, as it does when
I use Huawei's tools.
Removing the Huawei udev rules, and running modem-modeswic by hand, this
is what I get with today's 2.6.31-16 (#53):

Not only Vodafone Mobile Connect, but now Alice Modem Manager (a branded
version of Huawei's software) is no longer able to connect. I still need it to
switch the key into modem mode (from productId 1446 to 140C), but then have to
dial using Kppp, and lose the connection management features.

The only way I can reliably save the bookmarked items is to edit the
container settings and press ok, after adding the items. Like that all
bookmarked items will be there after the reboot.

widgets. But since my 1 1/2 year old son likes to press the power button
when he wants attention, a logout dialog would be very nice, instead of

I have also been bitten by this bug. Launching a kde session from kdm
dies after the third icon, launching starkde from a failsafe session

Firefox keeps forcing disk to spin up when browsing because its sqlite storage
I am getting exactly the same problem, and the more frustrating part is that it
totally ruins my wifi access at work. We have many APs with the same SSID, and
at my desk it ALWAYS connects to a 00:0F:xxx AP, then roams to a 00:0D:xxx AP
immediately after a dhcp bound to followed by a device
This bug seems to affect also intel 945 chipset. On a aspire one I had a drop
from around 1000fps in hardy to 300-400 in Intrepid. Adding the tunning below
to /etc/rc.local allowed to get some fps back, up to 630 on average. But on a
netbook, every lost fps can be seen to affect overall
The performance hit is awful if you're running intrepid/firefox on a
netbook (in my case a aspire one) with a SSD drive. 2-3 seconds at least
of pauses for every page that firefox opens.

The workaround works for me for cdrom (which is a DVD-ROM) but doesn't
work for /dev/cdrom1 (which is a DVD-RW) if it has a blank DVD; it still
shows the old bug, ejects then reinserts the tray. If the DVD-RW has a
DVD-ROM or a CD (audio/ROM) it works.

Correction to my previous comment - eject is still broken for the DVD-
RW. Both my drives are IDE, the RW is master and shows as /dev/scd0
(linked to /dev/cdrom1) and the DVD-ROM is slave and shows as /dev/scd1
(linked to /dev/cdrom). I am running kubuntu intrepid beta AMD64.

Still the same, eject /dev/cdrom works, eject /dev/cdrom1 ejects and
reinserts the DVD-RW tray, and only stays ejected if I do it twice on a
row.

I see the same behaviour with Kubuntu Intrepid, since yesterday. If I
press the eject button immediately after it closes it stays open.

I apologize for the long time since my last report, but I can no longer
test if this bug is fixed - I replaced the Radeon with a NVidia 7200
some time ago, and finally the TV broke down and I bought a LCD. So I no
longer have the original parts to test it.

interlacing broken in gutsy on
On a Acer Aspire One, with 2.6.27-4, C4 isn't visible and seems no to be
used, even though the Atom cpu has C4/C4E support.

C3 and C4 can't be reached. powertop doesn't show C3 and C4.
