Firstly, kubuntu was installed, then ubuntu-desktop was added.
It is impossible to switch from kdm to gdm using the standard command:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm

I am afraid I had problems to produce backtrack:
1. apport says No pending crash reports. .
2. command
sudo gdb /usr/bin/Xorg /etc/X11/core
results with
/etc/X11/core: No such file or directory.
For other methods from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing I am
probably a bit too lazy. Sorry.

Kubuntu Karmic alpha 3.
System has Ubuntu installed on LVM and Windows on a separate partition.
Until Karmic all Ubuntu installs had no problems to detect Windows.
In Karmic, GRUB does not give Windows on the list of bootable systems.
However,

At various occasions I get a window with the following error:
KDEInit could not launch '/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.06/bin/javaws'.
The simplest way to get this error is to click on K-menu and then on the upper
right corner KUBUNTU KDE.
