(I don't recommend using +mac iso's, use normals)
Format pendrive to FAT32 - copy all files from the iso there(remember the
hidden .disk folder) - hold ALT and select your pendrive on list, thats it,
you can install with native EFI boot ;)

I was having same problem as you, cursor was freezed, but multi-touch gestures
were working.
For me it stopped being a problem some updates ago...
When it freezes try to place five fingers on touchpad, it is always unfreezing
cursor for me :)

Looks like 11.10(Alpha) is not bricking Macbooks now. I installed this on my
macbook few times, after reboot, EFI grub2 appeared :)

In Open with dialog, nautilus, there is a lot of options that should be
removed...
1. AptURL - is it opening files?!
2. There are 3 banshee entries, and 2 vinagre entries...WTF?
3. nautilus-autorun-software - can't figure out, how this display's in

For example, if I move windows, using 3 fingers - moving is very smooth.
I think, the same event, but with 2 fingers, can be used to replace default
Xorg(?) trackpad driver to make 2-finger scrooling
