I have installed the kernel packages found at the followin link:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.0.25-oneiric/
and the problem disappeared.
A newer version (v3.0.26-oneiric) of the kernel is also available but I did not
test it yet.

With my system, sound stops working after few minutes. It happens with
Ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04, i386. I think this problem is similar to bug
#380098 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380098.

/etc/qt3/qt_plugins_3.3rc has no read permission for others.
I fixed it by adding read permission to others, too.

I have exactly the same problem with my notebook and my HP PSC 750 printer:
very often the last page of a print job is not finished and released until
several minutes of waiting or until a new print job is started.
This problem occurs with Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10 and 9.04 with the driver HP PSC 750
Sad thing is that users having notebooks with widescreen will still suffer
from this bug.
Of course as long as they won't waste their vertical space with
horizontal-oriented
panels or run too many GUI applications.
A partial solution for my widescreen laptop was the use of Separtors in an
you just need to place a separator on panel somewhere
below window list applet not allowing it to expand too
much (to a maximum of 7 rows of buttons).
That's exactly what I meant.
- Put a Separator a little below the Window List applet;
- Launch at least eight applications;
- Move the
