The problem was present under Kubuntu Hardy; under this platform the
"Workaround" did not work for me. I cannot reproduce the bug under
Ubuntu Intrepid (ie all worked correctly)

I haven't yet installed Ubuntu 8.10... but I was forced to replace
the "original" Openoffice ubuntu package with the "original" version
downloaded from OO website (that works perfectly).

On Kubuntu Hardy Heron I opened a worksheet with Calc, inserted a row,
copy/pasted data into that row. OpenOffice went at 100 % CPU and froze.
Bug repeated several times.

I confirm the problem (incompatibility between kdenlive and dvgrab 3.0)
and the solution (uninstall dvgrab 3.0, download and install dvgrab 3.1

On my HP Pavilion DV6373 (Kubuntu 7.10) when I unplug the power supply (or
mains AC goes off) the backlight disappears and the screen goes black. Strange
enough, if i plug in and out the power supply backlight turns on and stays on.

now I cannot test again the upgrade problem, because the PC on which I found
the bug are already updated and in the meanwhile the final version has been

- installed from Kubuntu Feisty Beta alternate CD
- clicked on the upgrade icon

I obtained the same result on a laptop on which I updated almost
flawlessly Edgy with Feisty Beta. This time the wireless card is a
Broadcom and I was able to remove ndiswrapper and use bcm43xx driver;
but the connection never starts at boot, I have to ifdown eth1 then ifup
eth1 to get connection w

past Sunday I installed latest Feisty knot 5 on the same VAIO on which I had
the problem and it seems to me that the problem is not present anymore. I
will be back home on Saturday; I will check again and post both /proc/iomem
and dmesg.
