I just ran into the same thing after installing glom on Ubuntu 16.04. I am trying this cd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ sudo ln -s libboost_python-py35.so.1.58.0 libboost_python-py34.so.1.58.0 as a workaround. I don't know if it will be effective, but it allows glom to start and create a database.

Regarding the MTU workaround, I've experimented and with Ubuntu 16.04 and kernel 4.4.0-21, it is not necessary to set the MTU nearly as high as 8192. It still fails for me with MTU set to auto or 1500 or 2000, but with MTU = 2100, it seems to work OK with no overruns. I haven't tried to narrow it
