As comment #19, my issue was apparently with Chrome Remote Desktop.
After uninstalling it, everything seems to be back and working.

I've been running Maverick since the release. A quick test just pressing
the buttons and trying to assign them in Keyboard shortcuts says the

As was concluded in post #10 it's probably a kernel bug. I'm not sure

Well, the as far as bug reporting goes it's obviously important to find
out the cause of the problem. But if that's not possible (or not

the reason for

I really don't know how to move on from here. I don't think that you

either one with --replace terminates the other if it's running, at least
that's my understanding.
The error in syslog regarding gnome-session might be
I find it strange that you don't have titlebars even when metacity is

rather some other settings as you say. However, you can see in Hardware

The message seems fine, but why the value of windowmanager isn't

That's normal behavior. I get the same messages sort of. What's
interesting is what gets output when you change the Visual effects

it's ok I suppose.
I'm guessing this is a duplicate of the other bug, but until the

Seems likely. Bug #554106 is probably the reason why you can't change
back to metacity in Visual effects, and possibly why some (like me)
didn't have the compiz package installed in the first place. I'm
assuming here that Visual effects takes care of installing the compiz

No problem. This is certainly a duplicate of bug #559111 but I'm
reluctant to mark it as such since it will hide it from the search

search for it, and titlebars seems like a likely keyword for that :)

Yes, I do. The graphics corruption is present with the open source
nVidia driver, but not with the proprietary driver. The corruption is
present all the time with the open source driver, but in much lesser
degree before the system hangs (it's basically just a couple of black
pixels at the top most
No, you're right, it gets worse all the time while typing. As I
remembered the corruption only worsened when the system froze, but
that's not the case. And also, as you say, it's the 2 key that's the
problem and not the @. I'll change bug title accordingly :)

Logitech Illuminated keyboard: Fn + F5/F6 do not produce
Ok, so I'm troubleshooting from a daily Lucid LiveCD from 31th of

Step 4: When running /lib/udev/findkeyboards nothing was returned. I instead

Oh, thanks for the pointer. I forgot about that. /lib/udev/findkeyboards only
listed input/event3. With input/event4 the situation is reversed, normal keys
(like letters) just gets typed in the terminal. Fn+Fx works for all
kombinations except F5 and F6 which outputs nothing. In other words,
Allright. Thanks for the help. Peace of mind is always good :) What
about the kernel bug, should I go about bug reporting it somewhere? On

I've been using 9.10 64-bit for a couple of weeks now, and the problem

I agree with Ryan's first comment. Maybe the Install icon/option could
be placed under the System menu (after all, it's system related right?)

the system
