[Bug 1521173] Re: AER: Corrected error received: id=00e0

So, although `pci=nommconf` gets rid of the error flood, it does apparently make some collateral damage. After a few days under this kernel parameter, the person who uses the laptop on a daily basis reported a decrease in responsiveness and stability, with occasional stutters if I understood

I've been getting a similar problem on a Leopard GP73-8RE laptop from MSI, on Ubuntu 20.04 as well as 19.10 and 18.04. This is the message that spammed in my system journal, causing it to inflate very rapidly to ludicrous proportions: 22:36:51 kernel: alx :03:00.0: AER:[ 7] BadDLLP

@Rajat Pandita: awesome, thanks for sharing! I came here to report that I too was experiencing this bug: GTX 1060, up-to-date Focal Fossa beta, NVidia 440 driver series, 5.4.0-24 kernel. Couldn't log in. Removing `splash` from grub's kernel parameters solved the issue, but adding

I was able to pinpoint my problem as well as a workaround: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1845801 `splash` needs to be removed from grub options: edit `/etc/default/grub`, remove `splash`, then sudo update-grub -- You received this bug notification because you are

I installed the last batch of upgrades which included a number of Xorg and kernel-related packages, and now I can successfully reboot and login after enabling NVidia drivers. However, I'm stuck at 1024*768 resolution, Gnome display settings don't let me pick anything else and NVidia X Server

Thanks for your reply. I did tick the "proprietary drivers" checkbox during the installation, but for some reason nouveau was enabled afterwards. As for the session-switching gear, it doesn't appear at all when NVidia drivers are enabled. Now, the problem persists even on a fully up-to-date beta.

I am having a similar issue. My graphics card is a Geforce GTX 1060 and the kernel is 5.4.0-21. By default, Ubuntu 20.04 was using `nouveau` drivers, but nouveau doesn't behave well with some applications I need, in particular RStudio (which tends to crash under nouveau). So, I enabled NVidia 440
