I don't think there is any confusion. On a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10
the double drums play when the GDM login screen appears. Once the user
logs in and goes to System-Administration-Login Screen-Play login
sound the user can see that the option is unchecked, yet the double
drums will continue

I'm feeling screwed over here. I wrote a patch for this in January and
it's been ignored for nearly seven months. *NO ONE* on launchpad gave me
any feedback on the patch. Then Bilal comes along, writes a nearly
identical patch, and it's accepted and committed. What did I do wrong?

Vish, there is indeed an option to specify wallpapers. One only needs to
add the single line of:
BackgroundImage=/usr/share/backgrounds/filename
/usr/share/themes/Ambiance/index.theme and
/usr/share/themes/Radiance/index.theme
Since this is so simple to fix, I am also proposing as a papercut.

When the system is booted, gdm does not display. I can hear the bongo
sound play which indicates that gdm is at the login prompt. When this
happens the screen is black with the mouse pointer in the center of the

I'm unable to duplicate this problem in F-Spot 0.6.1.5 on Ubuntu 9.10
64-bit. I took a new install of Ubuntu 9.10, ran F-Spot, imported
/usr/share/backgrounds, then double-clicked on a photo. The edit
controls were on the left side when the photo appeared.

default settings and features in their window manager to solve a bug in
another program is not an acceptable solution. The fact remains that
gedit is in fullscreen mode and a shadow is obscuring the top line of
text. This happens in
I believe this is a papercut because the toolbar could be removed after
retraction, and added back before it slides into view.
I haven't looked at the source yet to see how easy it might be. I can
look into it myself if another developer can offer mentoring to help
