In Win7 when I connect an HDMI cable it outputs sound through it
automatically if the device has speakers, like an HDTV.
In Ubuntu I have to set the sound over and over again when plugging and
unplugging my laptop. This is a small but very irritating limitation.

I can confirm this bug. I have the same laptop with Ubuntu 10.10 fully
updated and it doesn't work. I tried the fix above but it doesn't work
for me.
I installed linux 2.6.37 and the bug persists. I will try using a Natty
live session to see if this persists in the latest image.

Well it isn't exactly a duplicate of that bug, because I've always been
able to update the system. My problem is that the live USB creator
supposedly creates the persistenced file, but it really doesn't. When
My two usb drives are 4 GB Sandisk Cruzer and a 80 GB external Seagate
HDD.
I'll try making a smaller persistence file band let you know.

The problem with those drivers is that they can't be included in the
default installation because they're not open-source and could bring
licensing problems to Ubuntu.
Broadcomm is working on new open-source drivers so sooner than later
your wireless card will work out of the box with Ubuntu.
I would love to see something like 8.04/8.10 those were the best
wallpapers ever released. This is too blurry and doesn't make any sense.
The orange circles look like they are forced to be there because of the
new Ubuntu palette.
I don't know if this is the final version (it looks unfinished)
