No, as far as I know it didn't run out of free space. I know it's going
to be essentially impossible to uncover the cause, because I haven't

For sh*ts and giggles, I updated my T30's bios to the latest (2.10 from
2006-06-27). I still get the same symptoms. My updated lshal now looks
like this:

This continues to be a problem in feisty. If prism2_pci isn't
blacklisted somewhere in /etc/modprobe.d, the prism2_pci driver loads,
takes over my hardware and prevents orinoco_pci or hostap_pci from
controlling the hardware. I must manually sudo modprobe -r prism2_pci

Hmm... I tried to build 0.99.8 using the files you linked to, but
libgpod-dev 0.4 isn't in edgy (it's only up to 0.3.2-1 there).
As I said, 0.99.4 handles _some_ mp4 video files, but not all, so there
is some support, but it does seem to be buggy.

I've been using the python-id3lib package for a program I wrote
(envelopalator: https://launchpad.net/envelopalator), but now in feisty
I see that the python-id3lib package has been removed! I looked for a
bug report that would explain why this has happened, but found none.
Since it hasn't been mentioned, network-manager-pptp was released with

I'm still hoping network-manager-vpnc and network-manager-openvpn can be

Binary package hint: gtkpod-aac
I have several mp4 video files, all of which should work on the video ipods,
but gtkpod will only read some of them. For many of them, I get the dreaded:
Could not open 'filename' for reading, or file is not an mp4 file.
The following track
debian/testing now has 0.119-1, so all that should be required is a
resync for feisty...

If flash is critical and you really need ARGB visuals for firefox,
consider using the edgy-backports. The Flash beta 9 there works well.

Actually, I haven't been able to get the MacBook instructions to work on
a Intel-based MiniMac. After trying a number of install attempts over
several hours, Grub still failed to install properly. I eventually told
the potential Ubuntite to give Fedora 6 a go, which smmes to explicitly
support the

Bug 14911 talks about the firefox issue. Long story short, if you want to use
16bit mode for 3D, just put
export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
in /etc/firefox/firefoxrc, and flash won't crash anymore.

So large files are meant to work on 64bit architectures but not 32bit
ones? I just tried to wget the ubuntu dvd from an i386 box and got a 403
forbidden message, and I presume this bug is the cause.

Actually, while the problem occurs less frequently, it does still happen
from time to time. I'm not sure what triggers it, but eventually,
windows no longer map in X and sudo hangs indefinitely (for example, I
can't do sudo reboot, because I sudo never asks me for a password).

It's certainly expected that if I install the avahi-daemon package that
it would run and listen.
It's particularly annoying for upgrades. It's always the one manual fix
I forget when doing a dapper-edgy update (that is, to turn avahi on).
