This issue seems to be no longer present on my system in Ubuntu 16.04.
Wifi and VPN connect automatically without problems.

better position to to see if the bug is still present in newer releases.

I'm still experiencing this error on a fully updated Ubuntu 14.0.4.3 ,
I'm trying to format a regular disk, but it won't let me via the gear
menu. I can still format it by clicking on the + icon instead.

I have discovered an issue with davfs2 that causes webDAV to be extremely slow,
this is possibly related to the cause of this bug, although it could be a
different issue, which is why I filed it as a seperate bug:

I noticed the same issue with the € sign on my keepass2 installs on
several computers running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. However for me it's not
always present, closing and reopening Keepass often solves the problem.
Although as a workaround I now exclude € signs from my passwords.

I'm experiencing this bug too. Intel Graphics here too. However i'm
running an Acer 1810TZ laptop, so no Thinkpad.
I have attached the output of the following commands:
sudo lshw -C display xbuginfo.txt;
lsb_release -a xbuginfo.txt;
uname -a xbuginfo.txt

I installed the package 'xserver-xorg-video-intel' in the ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/ppa
.
It's now at version 2.19.0-0ubuntu1~xup1 .
Will leave it running for a couple of days and keep you posted.
