Network Manager is not able
I have a clean Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop install with defaults on an HP Envy
I get the same error
WIFI works
PCI Ethernet and USB Ethernet connectors both fail when adding them
static or DHCP via Network Manager

Major issue for me as I cannot open shares on my other Ubuntu machines
to transfer large files... guess this has stumped everyone?
How do you stop Nautilus asking for a password or is there some 'magic'
default for this non-existent password?

My brain may be a little slow here but... are you saying a fix has been
released for Lucid but NOT Karmic? I note that in Karmic I still have
the same conflict of dependencies... will a fix be released for Karmic
or do we have to wait for Lucid?

I thought everything had been resolved for me having updated to
2.6.31-8. However... if I delete a couple of files using Nautilus and
then go for a system shutdown I get the warning message that Nautilus is
still deleting files (even though it actually finished). Same goes for
copying files... a

As #16 says I receive a prompt to run fsck reporting that there was an
unexpected inconsistency as the last superblock write was (exactly) one
hour in the future. Not sure if it is relevant but I wondered if there
was an inconsistency between how Karmic was tracking time and I ran
Sterling work - no more warning message... well done!

I cannot remember the last time I used a floppy; indeed I had to get one
from the attic to test what happened when you inserted one with the
constant polling going on.
Rather than meddling with the OS while we are waiting for the next
release, can I suggest (as I have) temporarily disabling the

get_maintenance_status()
Tried removing and re-installing gnome-app-install from Synaptic. Noted
that dependencies removed were not re-instated on re-install and
installation reported a bad '.desktop' file.
Re-installed application exhibits same behaviours as before.

The re-install errors are reported in Bug #385248 re: /usr/share/app-
install/desktop/pauker.desktop
The pauker.desktop file is missing '[Desktop Entry]' as the first line.
After adding it the error goes away and gnome-app-install can be re-
installed without the error message... it still won't
I have just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 on 20th June and can confirm this
bug exactly as described. I tried putting a floppy in the drive and the
system appeared to read it a few times and then hung completely (needed
a power cycle).

major bugs would be sorted in the usual timely fashion that we have come

of the MAIN reasons that folk are looking to get a defrag tool running
is to 'refresh' files on their disk having moved from ext3 to ext4,
