After a quick check, it seems that all the ubuntu changes are no longer

Intrepid and I'm unable to reproduce the behavior you're describing
above. Could you be more specific about the things you're doing in
hydrogen when you notice this behavior?
Also, what is the output of

I can also confirm that the proposed packages do not have this problem
which I experienced with 10.3 on my Asus laptop with an external monitor
setup.

I'm having a similar problem with the update. I have an external monitor
plugged into my laptop (Asus W6A) which has a i915GM.

I can confirm this behavior on Hardy.
Moreover, I have noticed that the process that takes up all CPU when
gnome-system-monitor is enlarged is Xorg.
Also, it seems that the larger the window, the higher the CPU load.

Looks to me like this package no longer needs a merge but can directly
use a sync.
