I installed the current mainline kernel (2.6.34-999-generic) as described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds. The keyboard and the touchpad
still don't work. I do get a different message:

The message 'Can't read CTR while initializing i8042' is not there any
more. The result is however the same:

I attached the dmesg log. If you would like to have the apport
information with this kernel please let me know.
I updated the system and went from Ubuntu kernel 2.6.32-21-generic to
2.6.32-22-generic and now the problem is solved. I can use the touchpad
and keyboard again. In the dmesg log I find:

serio: i8042 AUX port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12

exists. I work on Jaunty with kernel 2.6.28-18-generic and never had a
problem like this. Should I install 2.6.27-02062715-generic anyway?
Is it possible to run Lucid with the 2.6.27 kernel or should I install
I tested with the daily built today (16/04/2010) and don't need the
option nomodeset anymore. The keyboard and the touchpad still don't
work.
