I can confirm that these packages work with Brother Fax-1835C. The
printer was even configured automatically after plugging it in.
Note: I used the Gutsy packages.

I moved the contents of the directory to another temporary directory and
rerun the upgrade script. A message came up, that said I should run sudo
apt-get install -f and then rerun the upgrade script again. I did this.
Half way through the upgrade, the x server was shut down and did not
come up
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
During the upgrade process a message popped up saying something like:
Directory /usr/X11R6/bin is not empty. Installation will now fail.
Please move everything out of this directory and rerun installation.
I clicked ok and after a few

As suggested in the upstream bug, I compiled gstreamer0.10.19, totem and
banshee from source today. I can now confirm that this issue is fixed
upstream since the 0.10.19 release of gstreamer-plugins-base. Dapper
still needs a fix though.
