I too have the problem of automount of USB memory sticks not working (in
Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04). Here is my dmesg output when I insert *two*

I've encountered a related problem (or maybe really the same problem in
a different manifestation). The list of third-party software is
supposed to be in /etc/apt/sources.list, but the list given there is not
reflected in the Third-Party Software list that adept displays under
Manage
Steven's comment illustrates a different but related problem (or
bug?): the file /etc/apt/sources.list ought to correspond to the
repositories indicated by adept under Manage Repositories / Third Party
Software, but it doesn't -- and the relationship between adept's
displayed repository list
The ticket should not be closed until a normal installation causes
libxine1-ffmpeg to be installed properly.

This problem just showed up today on Hardy Heron (8.04) after a normal
update, which installed kernel 2.6.24-16-generic. As before, logging
out and logging in again gets me my desktop back.

Kde error message on kubuntu: The process for the file protocol died
unexpectedly
The problem of mount.nfs producing an internal error also showed up for
me in OpenSUSE 11.0, when it was not in previous versions of OpenSUSE.
So it must be originating in some code release that's common to both
OpenSUSE and Ubuntu. It's also been reported for Fedora.
And it's very nasty.

I don't know what brought it on, but deleting the file

Until I installed Hardy Heron on this laptop, the sound worked fine.
After installing HH 8.04, it didn't. At first I had no sound at all,
but after switching from the i386 kernel to the generic kernel, as
suggested by several bug reports, I started to get sound -- but so

I also got this error, but at the beginning of the installation process.
Since nothing had been installed I had no way of attaching any files.
The only thing I noticed that might be helpful was the message out of
disk space at the end of the trace, despite the fact that my root
partition had 8GB.
