I have a similar issue (though sound never works from speakers).
Laptop: Dell precision 5510 delivered with Ubuntu 14.04 (sound working).
After upgrading to 16.04 there is no sound from internal speakers but
sound from headphones working. The internal speakers does no work no
matter if I
I can confirm this on 15.10 (Dell XPS developer edition). Makes the
computer almost unusable and require it to be plugged in all the time.
Makes me regret the upgrade from 15.04 :-(

Hi Sebastien.
The comments in the bug suggest that the update should be automatic so I
added this bug instead of creating a new one. I agree that the major point
is getting the thumbnail to work correctly is the main issue - and I must
add that it is a major pain point for me.
