I am getting this problem with a commercial DVD that plays OK on a Linux Mint
PC. I have tried my PC's internal DVD drive and a USB DVD drive and multiple
DVDs and get:
Error
GStreamer backend error
Could not read DVD. This may be because the DBVD is encrypted and a DVD
decryption library is
Running Xubuntu 14.04 and just upgraded to 3.13.0-144 from 3.13.0-143
and needed to re-apply the fix again.
The fix I have used is to edit /usr/src/linux-
headers-3.13.0-144/include/linux/vermagic.h
$ cd /usr/src/linux-headers-3.13.0-144/include/linux
$ diff vermagic.h vermagic.h.WAS
27,28c27
To be fair it is an annoying issue but not one that is so fatal one
would not be able to recover a system.
It leaves the system not working. That's is more than just annoying.
Also, I actually did re-install the operating system at least once
because of this bug to try to get this PC working
Is there no better solution than to say Change your BIOS settings?
