Actually, it got me too, but my printer is an Epson NX130 - i.e. NOT a

using a special alsa driver that is proprietary to a commercial company
that supplies a software driver for a particular card in my computer.

Oh, I see. If you look above, you'll see that I included in my original
post the ALSA Information Scripts for both the "-15" and "-13" kernels,
respectively. You are right. snd_hda_intel loads for the "-13" kernel,
but not for the "-15" kernel. What can I do about that?

I opened a terminal and ran both "alsa-info.sh" and "sudo alsa-info.sh"
and got only "command not found". How do I run the command you noted?

When I updated Ubuntu 9.04 from kernel 2.6.28-13, to 2.6.28-14, I had
sound upon rebooting to complete the installation, but after shutting
down and restarting the computer, the sound card was no longer
recognized, and right-clicking on the volume control icon and selecting
"P
