I have a laptop with Fedora 12. On that machine, I have a debian-lenny

This is actually not a bug.
You are not expecting composited toplevel windows to appear magically.
You expect a compositing manager to do this. Just like this, you'd have
to implement a compositing manager inside your application/toolkit if
you want subwindows to be properly composed.

I do have one, but it doesn't contain the settings for the wacom devices
anymore. This used to be working out of the box quite some time ago; and
we should really push Ubuntu to support it out of the box again (eg.
with only a live-cd and no config-file changes).

That's just a warning and no problem because autogen.sh calls gnome-
autogen.sh which detects GNOME_DOC_INIT in configure.ac and then calls
aclocal with appropriate parameters so that GNOME_DOC_INIT is in
aclocal.m4 (just grep for it).

With Yelp it's possible to search for »docbook« and the open the Docbook
book, but it doesn't get listed in the help topics in Yelp.
Also the generated .omf file seems to be broken as it contains a path in
the uri attribute in the OMF file.

I think the index is broken, because this doesn't only happen on the
table part. If you start by docbook.html you'll see that the
table.element.html is properly linked from other parts.
