Sry took so long. Downloaded and burnt a bata cd iso and the did the live cd
desk.
Working right out of the box right now and default desktop res looks good.
So guess this bug is fixed for the next release.

Hi a while ago I tried the Ubuntu and Kubuntu 7.10 live CD on my new
Dell XPS 1530 laptop. I have read where other users have successfully
installed it on this model. I think my install differs on that I have
the base 1200x800 wide screen 15.4 display. The regular display on

It failed funnt thing was I tried screnn one and screen two and it did
the same screen, this is wierd.

K found a lcd display setting 1200x800 at 60hz witch is the freq for my
monitor. Now im stuck at running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local) its
hanging here for a long time.

Apperetly nVidia 8400M GS is a problem in general but this bug is
about Ubuntu not being able to detect the display or being able to
choose it from a list.

K slapped in the 7.10 live cd and tried setting up the nv driver.
Apperently it does not work with this video card.

K think this is critical to the point it may stop the install of 8.04
on a XPS with the 1280x800 res, not tested on the other monitor
settings. 10.07-64 nv tested not to work with this video card. I have no
way as of yet to test this with the 8.04 till I can manually set up a
config vid setting
