1000 NIC. Its definitely a e1000e kernel driver issue. I too had no

I'm hitting this on a brand new Asus EEE PC 1215n, in the alternate
installer.
I'm running off a USB drive (I've tried two).
It looks like it's a freeze in partman.
The exact steps I took involved deleting an empty NTFS partition - at
which point partman stopped at 46%.
Then I deleted a hidden

This is intentional, Chrome tried to display a window larger than your
graphics hardware can handle so the choices are to draw a solid white
window you can't interact with or have compiz launch metacity so you
continue having a usable system.

I had the same problem in kubuntu lucid lynx, and it's persistent.
No matter what fix I try (rm'ing, editing the state file with it up or
down, rebooting, etc.), wireless stays off.
Wired works just fine.
Can't scan wifi networks.
Can't use wicd to connect.
Can't even dhclient wlan0 to do it.
You're not doing anything wrong and it isn't a bug in our wrapper. It is
a deliberate decision to block compiz from running in such a situation
due to bug 428769

to it being, honestly, the stupidest feature you can possibly enable by
default. No one knows what just happened when they scroll on the desktop
by accident and lose all of their windows.

So there are two problems here. Compiz no longer ships a file called
compiz.real and gnome-session doesn't have any kind of fallback when the
WM saved in your session no longer exists. A hack in the compiz package
to ship a symlink would fix this one instance of the problem but a fix

saved compiz.real as a program to run in your session. In lucid
compiz.real doesn't exist so gnome-session tries to start it and fails.
Ideally gnome-session would then just start the default WM (compiz)

resolution is too large. The only time compiz will go back to metacity
without giving an error first is when it fails to bind a texture so it
