I've been seeing the same thing on Jaunty. If Firefox is left open for a
day or so on, e.g., Hulu, then if I come back and try to use it it will
hang. Most other apps can recover from this state though b/c they just
reconnect to Pulse.

FYI, the problem was that an instance of the old btnx daemon had died

I am running tightvncserver from the command line, using the default
options, having set a password. I can then connect to this desktop
remotely, using tightvncviewer under Windows.

However, the windows do not have title bars and may not be moved. I

I finally got the info you asked for. (I kept forgetting to run with the

Btw, I discovered that if I use Compiz's zoom feature to slightly zoom
in on the whole desktop, then I can go fullscreen in Flash and it will
NOT exit. However, that leaves me with the edges of the video cut off,
and if I zoom out to get them back then Flash immediately exits
fullscreen.

It has been a while, but I do recall how it works. gnomebaker calls
other tools, in this case readom, and checks the return codes from these
tools. The problem is this part of my previous post:
$ readom dev=/dev/sr0 f=/tmp/tmpfs/test.iso
...
readom: No space left on device. Cannot write
I'm afraid you're stuck with grepping for errors without modifying the
readom source. I worked around the bug by supplying a sufficient temp
directory for gnomebaker to make the error I encountered unlikely.
A correct fix here is to fix readom to return with an error exit code
when it detects

Please Luka, don't close it as invalid. There is an error here, it
happens to everyone who starts using k9copy for the first time: the
program says DVD is not opened and we start to wander what happens.
Another way is to disable the controls that report the error until the
dvd is opened. In fact,
I have two sound devices. One is an Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) High
Definition Audio Controller. The other is an external USB device:
Creative Technology, Ltd SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit External SB0490. I
have snd_hda_intel and snd_usb_audio loaded, so that's probably their
drivers.

Thinking back, I think maybe the problem has only happened to me when I
left Hulu open. And Flash's ALSA sound support is known to be buggy, so
that would make sense. But unfortunately Pulse output is the default
ALSA plugin for ALL
Yes, pulseaudio is definitely at fault, but it may be brought on by
Flash. I recall that the issue is that Flash leaks ALSA handles or
something, which might contribute to resource exhaustion in Pulse, and
the error messages seems suggestive of that.

you're asking for. As thegve said, the problem is 100% CPU usage, not a
real crash, so what sort of backtrace is it that you want? Do you just
need us to get a full backtrace of gnome-panel during its 100% CPU
usage?

Binary package hint: pulseaudio
Ever since upgrading to Intrepid from Hardy, the pulseaudio daemon
periodically gets into a state where it does not play any sound. Some
apps will actually freeze if I attempt to play sound in them (e.g.,
Rhythmbox) while others work normally

Hi Jonathan,
this bug was obviously resolved in the meantime.
Already in September (2008) when I reinstalled Hardy KDE4 (after a few
months working with Hardy KDE3), this problem did not appear again.

I was able to fix the issue by downgrading NVIDIA accelerated graphics
