I have this problem as well. Maximus is on, and the desktop is turned
off (I can not right click it and my icons are hidden) and netbook-
launcher is in start up, but it never appears.
This is UNR theme installed on top of Ubuntu 9.10

Google Gadgets do not remember locations. When the session is restarted,
all gadgets jump back into the sidebar.
If one has carefully set up gadgets on the desktop, or in Compiz's
widget layer, all positioning and size information will disappear at

I installed the OpenOffice.org 3.0 beta today along with the old
version, and it encountered a problem when I tried to install
openoffice.org3.0-debian-menus_3.0-9354_all (because of a conflict
with two OpenOffice.org 2.4.1-1 files). I did a dpkg -i --force-all
I can confirm this bug in OpenOffice.Org Writer and can reproduce the
problem. It happens every time I open the program since a recent update.
It involves an OpenOffice.Org Writer window opening without a title bar,
but also occupying my full screen space, covering both gnome panels. For

it happens to me too in firefox 3.0 on hardy with all the latest updates as of
june 12, 2008.
it's a really minor problem because all you have to do to get by it is type the
password twice or enter the password in one, close the other, and reload the
tabs.
