I was able to install amarok after running:
sudo dpkg -r libqtscriptbindings1
I ran into this error after the dist upgrade crashed because of
openoffice.org-filter-binfilter
I removed this package and then ran dist upgrade on apt-get but it
failed because of amarok, when I removed amarok it
Bug also affects amd64. Broke my dist upgrade.

This issue can be worked around by manually removing
libqtscriptbindings1. It might be handled in the distupgrade, but mine
crashed and I performed a dist-upgrade from apt.
$ sudo apt-get install amarok

Yeah, I just tried that on my other amd64 system and it worked. Is there
supposed to be a dependency between nvidia-glx-new and the linux-
restricted-modules? If one could be added this would prevent further
headache.

ok I attached the output of dmesg. It is rather messy on this machine. I
have another x86_64 machine which needs the same package I can get you a
cleaner dmesg from if you need it, but I only have access to that
computer on weekends.

I had this same problem when doing an update via the internet. My update
process kept closing after it downloaded the packages without applying
them. I ended up applying them using adept updater, since the
repositories had been changed. Adept crashed about halfway through and I
had to run dpkg
