Same here: Ubuntu 9.04 installed with Wubi and then upgraded to 9.10.
After upgrading I was neither able to reboot nor shutting down the
system.
I applied the solution posted on #19 and now I can reboot and shut down safely.

are you using stock ubuntu or did you compile more recent v4l-dvb
drivers yourself?
Could you post dmesg output from booting up the working version?
It would be particularly helpful if you could boot, then try to tune the
receiver with dvbscan or equivalently try to watch live tv in

it would probably help people processing this report quite a bit to have the
output of a working Jaunty system.
Could you post 'dmesg' from the following sequence of events:
* disable mythtv if you have it installed (rename the /etc/init.d scripts)
* shut down, pull the power.
* boot

Reformatted again today. Now the problem is gone. It asked me to log in
and it has synced fine ever since. I don't know what I could have done
differently that made it not work on two successive installs and then

On Karmic Beta, /proc/cpuinfo reports one core for my core 2 duo laptop
(Macbook Pro 5.3).
It also reports the wrong frequency (1596Mhz instead of 2.6Ghz), but that was
already reported in another bug report.

noob at editing config files].KPackagekit kept prompting me to file a bug

1) run rhythmbox from terminal
2) Load mangatune catalogue by selecting it from the Stores pane in Rhythmbox.
3) Check error in terminal i.e. something like:
xml.sax._exceptions.SAXParseException: unknown:1922:25:
4) Open file ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/magnatune/song_info.xml in text

The debian BTS (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=51) has a
proposed patch for this problem.
Please consider applying the same fix to the ubuntu version.

I encountered the same problem.
After some analysis, this is triggered by the package uno-libs3 :
apt-listchanges correctly infers that the package has source-package
openoffice.org but unfortunately the version of uno-libs3 (currently
1.4.1+OOo3.0.1-9ubuntu2) doesn't match the version from the

- while it works perfectly in other applications and it works also when I copy
the accents of other applications

It is very easy to reproduce:
sudo apt-get install lyx vym
and try to put the keyboard with accents
then type the accents in the terminal (for example) and copied or pasted into
lyx vym ...
