2022-05-24 Thread Vincent Chernin
Public bug reported: With 1.14.3 the background portal creates a broken autostart file (it sends an incorrectly quoted app ID to implementations). This means apps like EasyEffects or Pika Backup cannot rely on the background portal to create a working autostart file. Please update to

[Bug 1947115] Re: VAAPI / HW-acceleration not working Snap-packaged Firefox

2021-10-15 Thread Vincent Chernin
Well I would say https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424201 isn’t properly solved until VAAPI is on by default for browsers on Ubuntu. Neither Firefox or Chromium do so yet. There’s a few bugs on the browser side that need the be solved, as mentioned in the Arch Wiki.

I found this article from Martin Stransky: https://mastransky.wordpress.com/2019/01/08/fedora-firefox-heads-to- updates-with-pgo-lto/ It appears Fedora's Firefox package is build with PGO. Is Ubuntu's .DEB package built with PGO as well? There's also this documentation from Mozilla:

The backported input thread patches mainly laid a foundation to solve this issue. Mutter still needs more work to take advantage of the new input thread. That is why there isn't an improvement in GNOME 40. This is described here: https://blogs.gnome.org/shell-dev/2021/01/21

While some basic support has been available for the magic mouse 2 for some time, there now seems to be work on improved support. Recently there have been some patches posted on LKML to mainline improved support for the magic mouse 2: https://lkml.org/lkml/2021/3/27/209

Sorry this is a bit late, but here once again are the speedometer benchmarks. This time I made sure to include the package version. I used a different computer than my first test but the conclusion is still the same: Firefox deb is beaten by alternative packages of firefox (in this case snap).
