This problem appears only in Yakkety only, previous versions are not
affected.
In previous Xubuntu versions, typing "gedit" in whisker would bring up the text
editor.
This doesn't work anymore.
Presumably because "name" in in the .desktop file is now "Text Editor",

import libtiff fails, unless it has been ran with root privileges
"sudo pip install libtiff" yields the same problem, "sudo pip install
git+https://github.com/pearu/pylibtiff.git; doesn't. So it's fixed
upstream already.

When the computer is suspended (from within xfce), and then woken up again, the
mouse cursor disappears.
CTRL+ALT+F1 CTRL+ALT+F2 makes it appear again.
The machine has not been installed from scratch, but rather updated from
15.10.

It's all working again. I guess some recent update fixed it already, even for
the 4.2.0-19 kernel.

A quick and dirty workaround can be done by deleting all enthought
packages and install them using http://pypi.python.org/pypi/pip, thus
avoiding the broken package.
Yet one has to be careful to not refetch it again as a dependency for
e.g. mayavi - best thing would be to install mayavi using pip
