Similar thing happened around 1 month back. I waited for around 10 hours
then restarted the laptop resulting in corrupted os that was not

I have recently installed the ubuntu 12.04 desktop edition to test it out.
Previously, I had ubuntu 10.10 32 bit on my machine but there were some bugs
like boot time bugs and same bug as I am presenting here.
Actually, the battery indicator does not show the battery remain
maybe you should try to edit preferences into the firefox's "edit" tab,
and setting the home page to google.com. WEell maybe that may work for
you.

The network connection (for DHCP) should be either be allowed to
automatically get configured through the 'Network Connections GUI' OR by

where X is replaced by your preferred network card's number. Not both.
