There won't be a fix per se for Oneiric. This is a permanent condition
because it is a new setting of the Linux kernel, and nobody in power
considers it a bug, nor a very important issue. Sorry.
There isn't any easy 'solution' to improve this situation beyond
affected users forcing the PCI-E

Adding 'pcie_aspm=force' to stock Natty install on a Toshiba L305-S5937
decreased the heat significantly. This laptop is now usable in Natty
without literally burning. Battery consumption has also increased from
one to about two hours. I have observed no freezing after the latest

I know this is closed, but since 10.10, I have experienced the same
problem. Subsequent boots (after the first successful boot) off the USB
fail everytime. There are no special steps to reproduce this bug. I have
to reinstall the ISO every time I want to boot off the USB.

as the latest Intel drivers, and I have not yet experienced a crash, and
everything seems to be working perfectly. Better than ever, in fact,
since, while 10.10 didn't kick me to login, it did have major issues

I don't understand. Why wasn't this an issue before Natty? My About Me
has worked in the past whether I used Evolution or not.
Also, I cannot confirm Holger63's report on this fresh Natty install.

supporting the epub format for reasons I cannot discern. Epub is a very

Yes, this problem still regularly occurs in Maverick. It seems random; I
cannot replicate it, but if you move or reload the icon it goes away.
Obvious visual discrepancies like this are as puzzling as they are
annoying.

Interestingly enough, a similar problem now occurs in Xara that did not
before 10.10. If you scroll in any direction, outlines of the shapes
remain in place and do not refresh until you scroll back again. Perhaps
there is a relationship. Someone mentioned that Rhythmbox has a similar
issue.
