Hi I seem to be having the same issue:
- I installed a fresh new install
- ran software update until everything was up to date.
- Software Center runs but has the same symptoms as the original bug submitter.
There are no applications listed as installed or any listed under any of the
software
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: software-center
Ubuntu v. 9.10 Karmic
- No software is listed as installed and there are no application listed
in any of the categories.
I can post more information later when I am on the machine in question.
Thanks!

/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/_xmlplus/utils/boolean.so
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/oldxml/_xmlplus/utils/boolean.so
these files are missing in python-xml package
but:
dpkg -L python-xml | grep boolean
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/_xmlplus/utils/boolean.so
The current behavior is what most developers would expect.
It's always the same problem, end users needs are not respected at all

In Feisty, i cannot finish the form wizard.
If I install openoffice.org-gcj the form wizard starts and immediately stops
loading.
Rebuild OOo with the Sun JDK under Debian/Ubuntu could solve the
problem?
