Let me elaborate a little bit on what I mean:
The Tecra M7 has a little nob on the front that controls the volume, and
pushing it in and out mutes and unmutes it. This nob seems to only work in
Windows however, even though Ubuntu reacts to it (if I push up the screen shows
the volume turning up
Nevermind, I figured this out. There was a conflict with the way my
windows installation handles volume control and the way Ubuntu does. You
may still want to look into it because I'm still not able to properly
control the volume, but at least I know what's wrong now.
