I upgraded from 21.10 to 22.04. The issue happens when using a Wayland
session or an Xorg session. My userdir is a local one. There is nothing
special about my configuration. One thing that might be noteworthy is
that before upgrading I was using the night mode of Evince and now it is
stuck in

Follow-up to Comment #36: Although patching upower fixes the issue,
gnome-settings-daemon is still broken, since disabling notifications
won't disable all notifications.

I installed your package and rebooted. It seems to fix the issue, audio
is working as expected again.
One thing I noticed is that when I mute the speakers or microphone via
their media keys (F1 and F4) the LEDs on the keys don't light up. It may
not be related to this issue though
I use this small script based on Giuseppe's findings as a workaround:

After hibernation to disk kde shows bad pixels on home screen (look at attached

sometimes there are also graphics related bugs in other applications
when I logout and login again or I do a reboot it works like before
maybe it has something to do with the nvidia
OK, so deletion of pulse config helped. First deletion only temporarly
and the weird behavior came back after some switching. But after the
second one it seems to be permanently fixed and I can't reproduce the
faulty behavior.
So I assume it can be seen as fixed?!
