i too have the exact same issue and thats with the feisty final release kernel. my laptop is an asus z96f with Intel cpu and chipset. the basic problem seems to surround the following dmesg and syslog messages: [ 6105.876000] ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0xd0) [ 6128.
