- kmail crashes at regular intervals regardless of whether it is being used or
left active in the system tray
- this is a clean install of kubuntu 8.10
- all the latest updates are installed
- standard configuration, nothing special about the kmail
when will this gnome desease just die already?
i'm seconding all the negative comments on this bug.
please remember that xorg is sufficiently complicated that very few
people can edit the file manually and chopping the head off a tool that
worked VERY WELL (despite the whiners, i've helped them a
same here.
how do i access the deb to test this out?

confirmed, i posted in the wrong bug report.
same issue, kernel 2.6.20-15-generic on an asus z96f laptop.
i won't be trying the workarounds, i'll wait for a fix.

i too have the exact same issue and thats with the feisty final release
kernel.
my laptop is an asus z96f with Intel cpu and chipset.
the basic problem seems to surround the following dmesg and syslog
messages:
[ 6105.876000] ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0xd0)

Please not that I have a working netgear nic installed. The nforce nic
does not work under dapper / edgy.

I found a fix for the key repeat issue I was experiencing, and thought
I'd share.
I added the kernel boot parameter "notsc" to my grub kernel line, and
that fixed it. With this, I could also remove the "psmouse.rate=40" and
other suggested settings listed in the thread.
