cool that 0.98 dvdrip finally found its deps and installed tonight...
but there is no ubuntu/gnome menu item...only the one buried deep in
debian/tools
an icon wouldnt hurt either...this is after all the only decent ripper
we have until thoggen gets subtitles capacity...
im sorry - i dont know what HEAD means...i did do a dist-upgrade and it
still does not work...i dont think its the laptop however since it
worked fine with dapper...and afaik up until a knot 2 or something like
that...
thanks

i tracked down the problem to libpoppler1
below is the error message...maybe something is wrong with my setup but
i think its pretty standard...should the dependency for libpoppler1 be

thanks but could you be a little bit more verbose...
im using official repositories...what exactly am i meant to do...
do you mean i should wait until changes are propogated???

thanks john but theres no country code. heres my /etc/apt/sources.list
i even disabled backports...
i tried with force option apt-get -f and no change.
i cant remove libpoppler1-qt since this is precisely the package which
wont install and is causing the problem in the first place...
in
of course i did an apt-get update...dont see how apt-get upgrade should
be relevant to this issue but i did one anyway...
still does not work. the dependency problem runs like this
kubuntu-desktop depends kdegraphics-kfile-plugins
kdegraphics-kfile-plugins depends libpoppler1-qt
libpoppler1-qt
it doesnt sound right to be forced to remove ubuntu-desktop which is
what removing libpoppler1 means...
id rather wait for a fix...i shouldnt have to downgrade libpoppler1
which is a dependency for ubuntu to install kubuntu, should i?

ok jeremy - like this.
i discovered while using firestarter that i did not have a dhcp

since one of firestarters main functions depends on it...
instead i did an apt-get on dhcp which seemed the right thing...

ok - thanks jeremie. i had dhcp installed rather than dhcp3-server...
why dont we add dhcp3-server as a dependecy in firestarter to avoid this
confusion? it is after all a normal function to share internet with dhcp...
thanks for your help.
