I have a similar problem on a Pentium D 960. Normally, I scale this
thing down using p4-clockmod in other distros, but ubuntu insists on
loading acpi-cpufreq and refuses to unload it so I can load the
p4-clockmod.

Unfortunately I have to agree . In a corporate environment with a
current incarnation of MS Exchange server you are completely lost when
trying to use evolution-mapi. Neither can you read your email nor can
you use the calendar. No really good perspective :-(

them to be trustworthy for everything.
Now I want to install a certificate for other persons that has been issued by

In Ubuntu 8.10 I only want to get the ipaddress via dhcp, not the search
domains, not the dns servers.
Setting this via the nm-connection-editor works as long as the machine is up.
Unfortunately those settings are lost when rebooting.

I have reinstalled the system and did some further testing. It seems you are
right and the visible file presumably has been added while the directory has
not been mounted.

Yes, that's what I'm concerned about. If I remove that file, another one
from that directory becomes visible.
