I have this too. I am using kubuntu feisty with KDE. But I am not using focus follows pointer, and there is another twist. This has just happened, and keeps happening 3-5 secs after plugging in my usb-wireless mouse. Disconnecting the mouse has my touchpad working normally, after plugging in the

Quick addition - I just noticed that after plugging in the mouse, it still works normally _but only within the original area_. For instance, I have just connected the mouse and can now select text, click around, etc. within this text box - but all other clicks and mouseover events are ignored
