Used the same USB Live as before (the same PA packages, haven't upgraded
anything at all). No sound. Created a new user, logged in as him and
the sound worked.

pulseaudio -k pulseaudio fixes the problem for me.
Michalxo (#550350 bug reporter) claims the problem has been fixed in
livecd from 29.03.2010. I've installed from a fresh image downloaded a

I've had some suspicions and tested them on my wive's computer. File
roller gave _correct_ permissions to files. I've had Ubuntu on my lappy
from day one (AFAIR I got it after Feisty came out) and must have messed
something up on the way.
Please feel free to re-assess whether this ticket still

I create some files and directories, say it's /var/www/cake . Many web
apps require a directory that's writable by a web server. In this case,

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention one thing.
Often when I boot the computer and log in to Gnome (when NetworkManager tries
to connect automatically) router gets killed (noticed on my girlfriend's
computer. Her computer never does that.

Well, I don't think I've had a full /home after that incident. If you
want, I can try filling, but I don't think it would make any sense -
especially that it's 2 dist-upgrades later and I don't have that
hardware mix anymore (not that I think it's hardware related).
