I have to confirme this bug, too. Got a brand new Dell M1330 and sounds
works really fine with the pre-installed ubuntu 7.10 but not with Hardy
RC Live-CD that I'm using right now.
I uploaded the attachments that Udrea asked for. File includes
uname-a.log, lspci-vvnn.log and the "dpkg -s linu
I can reproduce the problem (r-m still tells me that my hardware doesn't
need any driver) on my old installation. But I think it's a problem
caused through beta testing feisty fawn and it's not as important to
waste much more time, when the final version hasn't this problem.

concerning the nvidia driver. I wasn't able to fix it so I installed a new
Feisty System on my second hard disk. There wasn't any problem with r-m and my

It's the nvidia driver from the nvidia homepage and I had no problems
with it.
I removed the driver (again), switched to nv and rebooted -> "Your
hardware doesen't need any restricted drivers".

The problem changed a bit in the behaviour since feisty beta, but the
result was always the same. Restricted-Manager didn't install a working
Nvidia driver.
The latest version of the problem is that r-m mentions that my hardware
doesn't need any restricted drivers. In some older versions of r-m th

HW:
AMD X2 4200+
2 GB RAM
nVidia Geforce 7600 GT
DVB-S card:
Hauppauge WinTV Nexus-S
Using Edgy and Kaffeine it worked really fine 'out-of-the box'.
