On that PC I have only 2 GB RAM so it is possible that both RAM and SWAP
was not enough for that computation.

opens the window asking where to download the files. This delay can be
as large as a day and is extremely annoying.

When running heavy computations e.g. finite difference code in Python
that takes several hours to compute, the computation is terminated by
the system (as if someone would have written '$killall python' in the
console). Sometimes when this happens, a little window tells you

When running 'sudo halt', the system does not halt completely. It
appears as if the system freezes while displaying the log out-screen.
This happens each time the system is to be halted, so the only way to
halt the system is to cut the power.
