Ubuntu 10.04 fully updated still can't read a DVD.
The default movie player searches for a plugin (DVD source) but does not
find it.
So Bug 483211 is resolved, but the OS still won't read a DVD.
Don't the developers test this kind of basic functionality before letting
the product go out

Some boots you get the error, some you don't.
When you get it, the duration on screen varies. Sometimes, all you can make
out is a block of text flashing by.
At other times, you can see structure to the block as follows:

for the user to set UTC to NO even if no other OS is present.
