I can confirm that this is not an issue in unity on my friends acer
aspire ultrabook with intel hd 4000 graphics, as well as my old hp with
integraded intel graphics. Both using SNA 2D acceleration, and both are
running Ubuntu 14.04 with unity.

Im experiencing this as well, and it used to be only unity (compiz) that
had this issue so I had switched to gnome shell and that fixed it for
me, but recently on 14.04 ubuntu gnome it is starting to have the same
issue as compiz.

Um I'm pretty sure seems to be the xml package for mono documentation
was broken, I had to completely remove it and install then I ran through
fixing apt and such and everything was going good again so far so yes.
