Same problem on Sony VGN-CR41ZR/Ubuntu 18.04 (4.15.0-106-generic) with
builtin intel wifi card and additional wifi usb card (maybe this
important)
Machine was not suspended, just after some time rest in working (day or
couple) with no touching any settings of wifi connection it just hang

I found a different workaround. I had this installed on my HTPC and can
only connect via SSH and VNC so I gave it this command
sudo apt-get remove --purge compiz-core desktop-effects
to remove compiz and desktop effects and then
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
to restart the x server.
Fixed the
installation successful, no problem at all

Problem : When usb mouse and usb hub are plugged system hangs at boot on
OHCI usb line.
Workaround : Unplug all usb devices before booting the kernel, then plug
them when boot is finished (at kdm screen for me).
