Found out that during boot mdadm generates segfault, but cat
/proc/mdstat shows raid-1 is ready and ok.
Yet transfer rates of samba are still so slow that I wonder who is
satisfyed by such a solution?

o sda2 large RAID 1 for \ encrypted LVM
o sda3 small RAID 2 for \boot
o sdb1 100M /dos FAT16
o sdb2 large RAID 1 for \ encrypted LVM
Iff Mr. Kirkland ever tried himself to install Intrepid on a pair of
REAL harddisks with mirrored /boot on both disks and encrypted
filesystem with LVM on another mirrored raid he would have found out
that ALL the problems are still present in Beta!

@Brian: It is not a duplicate of bug 261977, but most probable because
of frame buffer not loaded in initrd.
The xorg.conf is the standard minimal file (no use to add it heere).
PS: When installing from the alternate cd, there is no problem with
installing, but on 1st real boot the problem

On Hardy all distros (including server!) do not correctly implement Raid
1 together with crypted partitions or lvm.
The whole installation process requires a well thought out strategy
taking into consideration that the initramfs of a degraded system might
be inappropriate and that it is not

(mirroring) set is booted with an USB stick connected, some bios will assign to
the USB stick a device name like sdb that normally would be assigned to one of
the sata drives.
In such cases
All distros of Hardy (including server) have ugly bugs preventing use of
raid 1 mirroring. The whole concept needs thorough rework. See Bug

Those reading the whole see that I did focus on a solution for Ubuntu.
Another solution is installing Fedora 9 where mirroring combined with
Luks and LVM works out of the box...

Imho it is a shame that server edition does not support dmraid and that this
bug is not assigned to anyone for years.
Who ever would setup a server not using mirroring?
A first solution to the problem would be:
- Include module md in the startup code of installer etc.
- Change
Today it worked as expected and it IS impressive to watch 96'521 files and
directories becoming upgraded with just two understandable questions regarding
replacement of config files.
