I just saw a driver update for nvidia linux driver (290.10) which says in the
releasenotes:
- Fixed a regression that caused blank/white windows when exhausting
video memory on GeForce 6 and 7 series GPUs while using composited
desktops.
I will try it as soon as it hits the repos...

In my case, no desktop is rendered. Apps do start, but I don't see
anythin in the space between the launcher and the topbar but the dash.

On Lucid, but also appeared on Karmic.
My microphone works only after I do the following:
I go to sound-preferences, tab Input.
I find the connector drop-downlist.
I switch to another connector and then back to the microphone (the one I

I have tested your packages (the -ati as well as the -radeon), I installed them
both together.
I removed the AGPmode option from my xorg.conf and I observed no crashes
when watching movies.
But, however, I did see a lag in the videopart of the movies I watched.
Every 8 seconds or so,
It was in progress, but I (the reporter) did not response. So there was no
check whether or not it was fixed. Therefore, this bug was closed.
But, since the bug is still present and I will try to keep track of the bug...
I reopened!

I was playing a dvd, when I decided to watch a youtube-video with the beautiful
youtube-plugin. So I searched, while dvd-playback was still active.
Then I double clicked on a youtube-video (dvd still playing) and my system

9200SE.
It just does not detect correct resolutions. It can read EDID, but it seems to
not use it.
It does use the vesa driver, but I can't imagine where to configure X to use
the radeon-driver. It is all gone...
Oh, i was mistaken, it did use the OSS-ati driver, my compiz-effects
were working correctly...

Thing is solved: see above thread. It appears that libGL.so.1.2 and .1
from an older/other driver version where placed in the /usr/X11R6/lib
dir. I think this is due to a single in a distant past when I installed
fglrx from the ati-site instead of the one from the repos. See complete

cannot imagine this should do something significant to make up this issue...
